So on Monday, UberFlex Club asked me to go give a quick talk and share my experiences at their UberFlex Club gathering! Why I drive part-time with Uber Flex Club and smove

Looking around at the comments in social media, I see a lot of negativity regarding Uber and Grab driving. As a person who has done this part-time for a number of months, and an observer of trends in the market, I have to say that some of the concerns are justified. Renting a car to drive Uber or Grab is a rather big commitment. You would have to drive several hours a day just to cover your rental and petrol costs, plus other costs like season parking, etc. Just like a regular taxi, if you don't have a relief driver to help share the costs and keep the car on the road longer, it can be a struggle to make a decent profit. And what happens if you fall sick or wish to take the day off? The costs are not going to go away. Needless to say, it is hard to justify renting a car full-time if you can only commit to driving part-time (unless, of course, you need the car for your own uses, and are ready to pay for it, and only use Uber as a means to offset part of the costs). TL;DR: I made about $208 last week for about 10h of driving, which translates to about $20.60/h of earnings. Read on to see how I calculate this number! Once in awhile, questions will be raised regarding how much a driver can actually earn driving for UberFlex Club and smove. It is a good question.
