What I learnt from UberFlex Club gathering!

So on Monday, UberFlex Club asked me to go give a quick talk and share my experiences at their UberFlex Club gathering!

I must say that looking over the crowd reminded me of my engineering school days in Singapore Polytechnic and NTU, where most of the people were guys, and the few girls present were mostly attached. Not necessarily the best place to find a date (from a guy's perspective, of course).

Yes, that's me in the corner
There was some simple buffet, which was later topped up with popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries and pizza. Not mindblowingly fantastic, and definitely unhealthy according to my gf's standards, but hey, free food is free food, yeah? 🐷

We also had some doorgifts, namely a magnetic handphone holder and a car charger.

I'd seen the magnetic handphone holder around in taobao.com before, and now I had a chance to play around with one. It's pretty good, actually. It attaches to the aircon grill of your car, and metal plates are provided to make your phone "magnetic" by either slipping it inside your thin handphone casing or sticking it directly to your handphone casing. Pros: Much easier to reach for your phone, doesn't block your windscreen view, keeps your phone away from direct exposure to the sun, and keeps your phone cool due to the constant stream of aircon. Cons: Watch out for the metal plate! Don't let it scratch your phone if u decide to slip it inside your casing.

I've tried it out, and I absolutely love the magnetic handphone holder!

Free stuff is always nice. Even if you already have these at home. The bag will make a nice new Uber-ing toolbag
Now to the main point of the evening. I shared some content from my blog, and the ppt slides are free for download.

Thereafter, I went to talk to smove and Uber representatives, as well as some fellow drivers to share experiences.

I learnt that smove allows drivers to call them to unlock the cars earlier if drivers arrive at the carpark early! (Still can't believe I had not thought of doing this earlier). I also learnt from fellow drivers that earnings of about $20/hr or even more is possible, with the right strategy, i.e. I am not the only one getting such earnings. Lastly, I learnt about some common questions drivers have, and I will address them in future posts here, to help more people get the $20/hr earnings!

All in all, it was quite a fun evening of experience sharing, which would have been made better if I had won something in the lucky draws!
