So at the beginning of the month, I was in Chiang Mai for a short trip. Naturally, I thought it would be interesting to check out Uber (as a rider, of course!) while I was there.
I took 2 rides in total, but will only discuss 1 of them as the other was pretty similar in terms of price. This was from a restaurant along the river, opposite Warorot Market, to the shopping mall with (apparently) the only bowling alley in Chiang Mai, Kadsuankaew shopping mall.
The results really surprised me, in a pleasant way, of course.
Now it seems like a pretty short trip, but the traffic made it seem much longer! Furthermore, it seems the traffic lights take much longer to change as compared to Singapore, so every red light meant a pretty long wait.
And if you're wondering how much 34.55 Baht is in Singapore Dollars, here's the results of a quick Google:

Even without the 30 Baht promo code, the total cost would have been less than S$3. Yeah, cars in Thailand are probably way cheaper, and so is cost of living, but S$3 - 20%?? Hats off to these guys, and a renewed sense of gratitude for the S$15-20 nett earnings I enjoy as a Uber Flex driver in Singapore!
