So my weekly Uber payment from last week's driving has come in!
After all was said and done, I earned about $21/hr nett for my 8 hours of effort. That's almost $170! And yes, that is after deducting all my costs (rental and fuel).
As with many other things in life, there are good times and bad times. There were periods of time (a few stretches of 10 mins or so) in which I had to drive around hoping for bookings. I had some long Uberpool rides in an area with 1.4x boost, which really boosted my earnings. I had to drive several km with no passengers in my car. I had many short trips which allowed me to benefit from the $10 minimum fare guarantee promotion. I had to go offline while I searched frantically for a restroom at one point. I ran low on fuel and got to keep the rebates from topping up the tank. But most importantly, I completed my drives safely and with decent earnings!
